FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

How much weight can the shelves hold?

Up to 50 lbs per shelf when mounted into wall studs. When using drywall anchors only, we recommend keeping loads under 15 lbs per shelf.

Is this real solid wood?

Yes. Each shelf is made from 100% solid oak or solid walnut — no veneer, MDF, or particleboard. Natural variations in grain and tone make every shelf slightly unique.

Will the brackets show once the shelf is installed?

No. The steel mounting bracket sits completely inside the shelf, leaving zero visible hardware for a clean, true floating look.

How deep are the shelves?

Each shelf is a generous 8 inches deep, giving you plenty of usable space for books, plants, frames, ceramics, and everyday decor.

What sizes are available, and how many shelves are included?

The shelves are available in 24", 36", and 48" lengths, all 8" deep and 1.37" thick. The 24" and 36" sizes include 2 shelves, while the 48" size includes 1 shelf.

Is installation easy?

Yes. Simply mount the bracket, slide the shelf into place, and tighten the locking screws. Clear step-by-step instructions are included.

What comes in the box?

Everything needed for standard installation: the shelf or shelves, concealed steel bracket, mounting screws, drywall anchors, mini bubble level, and instructions.

Do I need to mount the shelves into wall studs?

Not necessarily. The included drywall anchors can support loads up to 15 lbs per shelf. For heavier loads and the full 50 lb capacity, we recommend mounting the bracket into wall studs.

Will the shelves sag over time?

The concealed steel bracket uses reinforced rods that extend deep into the shelf for strong, stable support and resistance to sagging when properly installed and loaded within the recommended limits.

Customer photo review of The Floating Shelf

These shelves are such good quality. I ordered the oak and they are so heavy duty. I was under the impression that each shelf was one piece of wood. They are not one big piece. As you can see from my pictures, they are multiple long, thick pieces of wood that have been glued together. That doesn’t matter because of the great quality. They are still solid oak. In the back you see where you can hang the shelves…the black area. You can use these and they will support 50 pounds. I suggest keeping it right below 50. I have really heavy iron pieces that I want to put on these shelves so if you want to exceed the 50 pound recommendation, you can pick up a few L-brackets. Check the weight limit on the L-brackets. What I do is flip each bracket so that the long end is going up the wall instead of under the shelf and down the wall. You can still attach the brackets to the underside of the shelf, just flip them so you can attach them so they face the ceiling instead of the floor. If you do it that way, you can hide the part of the bracket that shows with a vase or a couple of books. That way you can easily add a lot more weight to each shelf. Make sure to get some good quality anchors as well. You will be very happy with these beautiful shelves as I was. They add such great design elements to your walls. I would definitely recommend them.

Customer photo review of The Floating Shelf

I'm pretty picky with shelving and always go for the most durable I can find. Really happy that these are as they said - solid wood, no veneer. These are very thick slabs and they do have some weight to them. I'd highly recommend only using these if mounting to studs. Otherwise the weight of the shelves alone would make me a little nervous. The finishing overall is really nice. Although the other review with mismatched colors was a little concerning to see. I would return them immediately if I saw that. Mine were both very close, close enough for my satisfaction, however they are still a little bit different. The color overall is beautiful but one half has some interesting markings. Not sure if it's sanding or what but know that these probably won't be completely consistent.

Customer photo review of The Floating Shelf

I’m really impressed with these floating shelves. The solid oak wood looks beautiful and feels much more substantial than the cheaper particleboard shelves I’ve purchased in the past. The 36-inch length is also great because they provide plenty of space without looking overly bulky on the wall. They have a simple, clean design that works well with different decorating styles. I used them to display books and a few decorative pieces, and they made the wall look much more finished and put together. The shelves feel sturdy once installed and have no problem holding my items. I also really like that you get two shelves in the set, so they can be installed together or separately depending on your space. Overall, the quality, size, and appearance are excellent, and they were exactly what I was looking for.

The Floating Shelf

The floating shelves give 8" depth on all three sizes. The shelves are made of solid walnut wood. The bracket is sturdy and completely concealed. When hung on studs the shelf can handle 50 lbs. The shelves have zero slag. Each piece of wood is 1.37" thick. The surface is smooth and shelves have some various grains which is natural. The shelves ate quality made and worth the cost. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended

The Floating Shelf

These are substantial shelves. They're quite heavy, and while each shelf appears to be made from multiple pieces of wood joined and finished together rather than one continuous piece, they still feel strong and durable.Installation was quite simple. I mounted the metal supports using a large level to make sure everything was straight, then the wooden shelves slid right onto the mounts. Once installed, the hardware disappears nicely and the shelves really do look like they're just floating there on the wall. I've got a couple of books and keepsakes on each one, and they've been holding everything securely. The wood looks smooth and attractive, and the shelves have enough visual weight that they look nice even without much sitting on them. They're heavy, sturdy, and surprisingly easy to install. Once the metal supports are level, you basically slide the wood into place and the shelves are ready for action.

The Floating Shelf

A premium, heirloom-quality shelving solution that combines the undeniable luxury of 100% genuine hardwood with a rock-solid, heavy-duty mounting system. It is a flawless pick for anyone looking to add high-end, functional elegance to their home. These floating shelves are the real deal. While cheaper manufactured wood or veneer options exist, they cannot match the timeless elegance, weight capacity, and rich grain of solid Walnut. If you want a clean, minimalist display that will look stunning for years to come, these shelves are highly recommended.

The Floating Shelf

I ordered these because I needed something to go above my desk that wouldn't look cheap and every wood shelf I kept finding was either veneer or MDF with a wood print on it. These are 36 inches wide and about an inch and a third thick and the walnut is real throughout so the grain runs all the way to the edge and the weight of each shelf is noticeable when you pick it up. The color is a warm medium brown with some variation between the two shelves, which makes sense since it's actual wood and not a manufactured finish. The hidden bracket system works the way it's supposed to and once the shelf slides onto the rods there's no metal visible from any angle. My cat has already tested the lower shelf by jumping onto it from the desk chair and it didn't move. I have mine mounted into studs and they hold a row of hardcovers plus some ceramics without any flex. The 8 inch depth is fairly useful since nothing hangs over the front. They are expensive and I sat on the decision for a while because of that but solid walnut in any form tends to cost what it costs and finding it in a floating shelf format is not easy.

This review is for Floating Shelves for Wall, Premium 36-inch Solid Walnut Wood, Set of 2 100% Solid Walnut Wood, Holds Up to 50 lbs Per Shelf, Hidden Bracket, Hardware Included, 36 x 8 x 1.37 Inch. The price at the time of the review was $109.99. These shelves have a beautiful solid walnut build with rich grain and a smooth finish that instantly adds warmth to a room. The full 8-inch depth makes them practical for books, plants or framed photos, and the hidden bracket design gives them a true floating look with no hardware showing. Installation is straightforward with the included bracket, screws, anchors and small level, and once mounted into studs they feel sturdy enough to hold heavier items without sagging. The walnut looks premium and the clean lines make them a great fit for living rooms, bedrooms or an office. A stylish and well made set that elevates wall storage.

The Floating Shelf

These floating shelves have a beautiful solid walnut appearance that adds warmth and character to a room. The 36 x 8-inch size provides useful display and storage space, while the 1.37-inch thickness gives each shelf a substantial look. The hidden bracket keeps the installation clean, and having the mounting hardware included makes setup more straightforward. The wood feels sturdy, the finish looks good, and the listed 50-pound capacity gives the shelves useful strength for books, decor, or everyday items.

The Floating Shelf

This is a tough one! They’d easily be 5 stars, but if I buy a set of two walnut shelves, I do have the expectation that they are at least somewhat similar in appearance. These are not. Both look cool individually, but the singular brown tone is what I expected both to be, not contrasting stripes for one of them. The bracket is nice, it comes with screws, and it was beautifully wrapped. The wood is thick, and nice quality as well. So again, it’s be an easy 5 stars and good value if only the two shelves were even remotely similar in appearance.

The Floating Shelf

I was pleasantly surprised by these floating shelves. I expected them to look nice, but I did not expect them to be this heavy or substantial. They feel like real, solid wood rather than the lightweight, hollow shelves I have come across before. The walnut has a beautiful look to it, and the shelves make a much stronger impression in person than I expected from the listing photos. Despite their weight, putting them up was easy. Once installed, the hidden brackets give them that clean floating look without visible supports distracting from the wood. They look beautiful on the wall and feel like a quality addition to the room, not just a place to set a few decorations. My main advice is to be prepared for how heavy they are when handling and mounting them. For me, that solid feel is one of their best features. I’m very happy with the finished result and would recommend them to anyone looking for substantial wood shelves with a simple, polished look.
